Description: Bath's first Theatre Royal (in Orchard Street) was granted a Royal Patent by George III in 1768. It was built by Thomas Jelly in 1749-1750 and was originally known as the Orchard Street Theatre. It was then a Catholic Chapel before becoming the Freemason's Hall or Masonic Hall.
