Description: This photograph was taken in Portland Place, opposite the recently demolished Portland Arms pub. In the foreground was 11, Portland Place, whilst the mound of earth beyond it is all that remains of 1 to 3, Mount Pleasant. Above this can be seen the partially demolished houses in High Street. As part of extensive and controversial redevelopment, during the period known as the 'Sack of Bath', the buildings in Portland Place adjoining Mount Pleasant were demolished.
