Description: South side, opposite Magdalen Road. The inscription on the blue and gold board used to read: A man of kindness to his beast is kind, But a brutal actions show a brutal mind. Remember HE who made thee made the brute and for thy especial reason made him mute. He can't complain, but God's All-seeing Eye Beholds thy cruelty and hears his cry. He was designed they servant, not thy drudge. Remember his Creator is thy Judge. (Bath Chronicle 18th January 1962).
From a collection of slides from the 1950s-1980s, by Lesley Green-Armytage. Photographed in September 1971.
