Description: West side, showing the Edinburgh Castle pub at the end of Newark Street from Philip Street. Until the 1950s the right-hand side of the pub was a house at 11, Philip Street and the gap on the right is the site of 12, Philip Street, which was taken down in the 1950s. All of the other buildings were demolished in 1971. The west side is part of the Southgate development. The east side gave way to the Ham Gardens Car Park and bus station.
From a collection of slides from the 1950s-1980s, by Lesley Green-Armytage.
