Description: This view, looking west, was taken during the clearance of James Street West and the construction of the Social Security Building by W.S. Frost for the Ministry of Public Building and Works. It clearly shows how Kingsmead Street used to link with New King Street, providing the main road into Bath from the West. Kingsmead Street was severely bombed during the Bath Blitz in 1942 and was completely cleared. Photographed on 25th February 1964.
