Description: A British Rail engineering department photograph depicting the Brunel viaduct and necessary alterations in connection with the impending new road layout. An interesting glimpse of the lower Holloway area prior to the construction of the new Wells Road, plus businesses operating from the arches, including Western Relining, Clifford's scrap merchants and Archway Engineering. The Bailey bridge is already in place, taking traffic away from the soon-to-be-demolished Old Bridge.
Photographed on 7th November 1962.
