Description: Chief Planning Officer Les Sparks (right) and Ken Johnson from ARC Properties (developers of the Podium) wield their mallets. The Beaufort Hotel became the Hilton Hotel in April 1988 and has gained notoriety as a symbol of the 'Sack of Bath' and the unsympathetic clearance and developments of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Photographed in November 1989.
