Description: Showing the legendary death of Cleopatra VII of Egypt (70/69-30BC) by asp following her capture by the Roman army after the fall of Alexandria and death of Mark Antony. This painting is very similar to an earlier work of the artist of Cleopatra.
Painted by Benedetto Gennari the younger (1633-1715) oil on canvas. Italian baroque painter who worked at the French court of Louis XIV and the courts of Charles II and James the II & VII in London, leaving in 1688.
