Description: Incredibly, this monolithic structure which blotted out the view of Bath Abbey as you approached, was thought to have provided access to an arial walkway. Part of the abortive master plan by Sir Colin Buchanan, including a road tunnel under the Paragon and exiting near Charlotte Street, the tower was finally demolished in November 1989. Note Mordor sprayed in it by a Tolkien wag.
Photographed on 14th May 1973.
