Description: An intriguing photograph of a painting that is an almost exact copy of a sketch by Thomas Robins the Elder. The main visual difference is the addition of a stone lighting column by the balustrade of South parade. Almost certainly a copy of a lost work by Robins.
From an album annotated by Peter Lens in 1747, these photographs were taken from drawings in the possession of Mr. Elswick of Daniel Street. The date is much more likely to be c.1780.
