Description: There is a post in the middle of the footpath leading from the canal towpath to the bridge, which is not there in a photograph of c.1890. Could it be the remains of a gate or fence post? Notice also how little remains of the fencing adjacent to the road (see page 18 of Ken Clews S.C.C. & R. book. Stop planks are stacked just to the left of the bridge and the towpath shows evidence of regular use. The canal is now filled in, the bridge still survives, but is barely visible in the curtilage of the house that now fills this spot.
