Description: This photograph was meant to show the former Corn Market Tavern pub, but unfortunately the photographer chose the wrong building and instead took a photograph of Roy Barter's leather goods shop, which was demolished in 1970 to make way for Saracen Street. These were 9 & 10, Walcot Street until renumbering in about 1905. The Corn Market Tavern was located just south of the Corn Market and opened at 21, Walcot Street in about 1870. It closed in around 1882 and became the Corn Market Coffee Tavern. In about 1905 the address changed to 60, Walcot Street and the building was demolished in 1937.
From a photographic survey from 1965-1966 of over 300 existing or lost pubs and breweries in Bath and the surrounding area. Photographed in July 1965. See Image Ref. 14660.
