Description: The Portland Arms pub at 12a, Portland Place and the adjoining 12, Portland Place have gone. The Portland Brewery at 27, Ballance Street, which later became the Portland Furniture Warerooms is in the course of demolition. On the left is 28, Ballance Street which only lasted for a short while longer. As part of extensive and controversial redevelopment, during the period known as the 'Sack of Bath', the buildings in Portland Place adjoining Ballance Street were demolished. Portland Place can be seen in the background.
