Description: Discovered in 1727, this gilded head is now in the Roman Baths Museum. The engraving was made in 1730 and was later published in "Vetusta Monumenta" by the Society of Antiquaries of London, 1747, Vol. 1, Pl. 1.34. With notation underneath 'Caput hoc, ex ære inauratum, antiquo opere summoque artificio conflatum. Urbis inter rudera multis jam seculis excifæ sepultum, Aquis Solis in agro Somersetensi XVI tandem sub solo ped eddossum. A.D. MDCCXXVII' Æternitati consecravit Soc. Antiquar. Londinensis.
