Description: The north side of the ground floor showing traces of old shops in the Colonnade which were revealed during 1961 restoration. A small part of the name of wine merchant Lawson Howes can be seen along with India Pale Ale written below it. He was the last occupier of the wine cellars. There is also evidence of an earlier shop belonging to a plumber (possibly Howell).
From a collection of slides from the 1950s-1980s, by Lesley Green-Armytage.
