Description: 19 years a resident of the village and living until 77. Previously a cabinet maker and upholsterer in London. Quite a character, possessing many eccentricities. One of these consisted of standing at his doorway for hours together, leaning on the bar shown in this image, which he had fixed for that particular purpose. When not thus occupied, he was a familiar fixture on the allotment ground, in which he took great pride, or meditated upon the principles of Radicalism, of which he was a consistent adherent.
