Description: Combe Down cameo. Framed by the north portal of Combe Down tunnel the permanent way curves away on a falling gradient of 1 in 50 towards Bath Junction. At this date the line only played host to the occasional track removal train and it was to be only a matter of weeks before these too had passed into history. From a private collection of slides of the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, taken in the year following closure of the line in 1966.
Photographed in November 1967.
