Description: The evening sun imparts a golden glow to the stonework of the empty station building. The signal box is the distance is now the only Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway box to survive in its correct location and was last offered for sale at £30,000 having been converted to a dwelling. It is rumoured that artist Peter Blake, who designed the album cover for Sgt. Pepper and converted the house, infilling the space between the platforms to make a sunken garden, entertained The Beatles here on more than one occasion. From a private collection of slides of the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, taken in the year following closure of the line in 1966.
Photographed in November 1967.
