Description: This map is a reduced scale version of the one inch to the mile County of Somerset Map published in 1782. Charles Harcourt Masters was William Day's assistant, but his contribution must have been significant as his name was included on the final map. This map was awarded a prize by the Royal Society of Arts, one of only thirteen that were given between 1759 and 1808. Charles Harcourt Masters went on to publish the magnificent Plan of the City of Bath in 1795.
