Description: It states 'As a decided difference of opinion exists as to the propriety of erecting pinnacles on many parts of the Abbey Church and having given the subject considerable attention I venture to offer the following short dissertation for the consideration of those who feel an interest there in and beg to state, that I write as a simple citizen, divested of official character; I disclaim all personal allusion and quarrel with no man for thinking and expressing that he is right and I am wrong, but I claim for the same latitude for myself'.
