Description: Facsimile of Map by Messrs. Cotterell & Son, 1846. Showing lines of the proposed Wilts, Somerset & Weymouth Railway and the proposed London, Newbury & Bath, direct railway. The line opened in 1857, but was built by G.W.R., who had taken over the W.S.W. Railway in 1851, which had won the Act of Parliament in 1846 to allow its construction.
