Description: Viewed from the northeast, old St. Mary's Church, Bathwick before it was demolished in 1818, when the present St. Mary's Church was built at the foot of Bathwick Hill. Stone from this church re-used to build the mortuary chapel in the cemetery. The church of St. John the Baptist on the neighbouring site, was built in 1861-1862, extended in 1869-1871. The spire of St. Swithin's Church, Walcot, is seen over the rooftops with Axford's and Paragon Buildings stretching out either side of the background.
