Description: Letter from E. Barlow (Dr. Edward Barlow) to 'Taylor' (probably Dr. Richard Taylor). He apologises for missing the meeting due to his duties at the United Hospital. It gives his views on the subject of founding an institution, the previous attempt having failed due to a lack of public patronage. He doesn't name or describe the institution, but it appears to be for a gallery or art institution as he has attempted to have an exhibition at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution that failed due to a lack of support.
A.L. 779. (102), Sydney Place, Saturday night, 14th May 1836. (Pages 1 and 4). See Image Ref. 41404.
