Description: The Widcombe bridge was formally opened on the 29th December 1862. It was a cheap adaptation of Brunel's bowstring girder bridge as used at the Albert Bridge, Saltash. Its commercial success is uncertain. The present bridge is also known as Halfpenny Bridge.
