Description: Charles Milsom, a cooper, accidentally discovered the spring in 1737, Lyncombe House being built in 1742 as accommodation for the intended use of the springs as a spa location. It didn't succeed and Wood's edifice, intended to protect the spring and provide a focal point, was never built.
