Description: Pen portrait of the author of 'The History of Tom Jones'. He was a Circuit Court Judge in the southwest and a friend of Ralph Allen, after whom he created Squire Allworthy. He became London's Chief Magistrate in Westminster he helped found the Bow Street Runners with his brother in 1749.
Published in March 1798.
