Description: Page 145 - monk Thomas Spenser composed many books at Hinton Priory, a monkish activity at Hinton Charterhouse. The monastery surrendered in 1540 and the present manor house (i.e. Hinton Priory) was erected by the Hungerfords out of the abbey ruins.
