Description: Sale of the Black Work post chaises and horses of the Bear Inn, along with several other conveyances and horses, on Monday 14th July. Also auction of the household contents and stock of wines from the inn on Tuesday 15th July. The stable yard of the Bear Inn was the main route from the upper town to the Baths until it was demolished to make way for Union Street as part of the 1789 City Improvement Act, which included building Bath Street and enlarging the Pump Room to improve facilities for the valuable rich tourists.
