Description: The replacement of the ruinous houses opposite the Guildhall to create a passage of shops (the Corridor). The ancient houses adjoining the brewery in Westgate Street are to be demolished and Bridewell Lane widened. The three hovels in Westgate Street are to be removed. Quiet Street is to be widened and the Bazaar built, thus improving and widening the approach from Queen Square to Milsom Street. An old house in Horse Street is being replaced, thereby removing Attwood's Passage with new buildings fronting the south side of St. James' Church. Other improvements around Beau Street and the building of the new Casualty Hospital are mentioned.
Newspaper cutting from the Bath and Cheltenham Gazette, 18th May 1824.
