Description: William Wyatt Dimond was an actor, playwright and theatre manager. Although he made his debut on the London stage in 1772, he was long associated with the Theatre Royal, Bath. He first appeared as an actor in 1774 and in subsequent seasons played opposite Sarah Siddons a number of times. He proved a popular leader when he took over as manager of the theatre from John Palmer in 1786. Dimond obtained a 17 year lease on the Orchard Street theatre in 1799 and oversaw the building of and moving of the theatre to a new location at Beauford Square in 1805. From "The Wonder, a Woman Keeps a Secret, a Comedy by Mrs. Centlivre", 1792, preceding the title page.
