Description: Viewed from the southeast across Sawclose to the main entrance as rebuilt in 1862-1863 following a disastrous fire. The entrance was originally in Beauford Square and the rebuild allowed the owner to move it to the more convenient east face in St. John's Place. The sign on the left advertises the Garrick's head pub which had recently been taken over by Henry James Wyatt. Beau Nash's house to the right once had a clear view south, before the new doors to the theatre were built. It was occupied by the wine merchants Broadley & Sturmey and most recently been a series of restaurants, but was once the home of Beau Nash's mistress, Juliana Popjoy.
