Description: Includes an account of the difficulties facing the construction of the Box Tunnel. The contractors were Mr. Lewis of Bath and Mr. Brewer of Rudloe. The exact length of the Box Tunnel was 3197 yards and in its building 4796 tonnes of coal, 99250 pounds of gunpowder and 54960 were consumed and took four years to complete with 1300 men employed daily. Printed by Wood Brothers Old Bond Street, Bath (four of four).
