Description: This fancy dress originally belonged to Ada Power, the wife of Major Ambrose Grattan Power of Glencraig Abbey in Lismore, Ireland. Mrs Power had the costume designed in 1904 in the style of a Veuve Clicquot champagne bottle, arranging for authentic labels that were specially designed for the dress and sent over from France. She wore the costume to many of the fashionable fancy dress parties in Dublin during the early 1900s and won several prizes.
