Description: The inset in John Speed's map of Somersetshire, published in 1610 gives a comprehensive depiction of the city of Bath that was copied with revisions for many years afterwards. The original plan was probably made at the end of the sixteenth century. See Bird, Bath History Vol. 1. The church of St. Michael's within is indicated by the letter S.
