Description: The bike is GL 1722 an HRD Model P purchased by Roland Cross as a rolling chassis, frame, wheels, tank, handlebars, saddles etc. and registered to him in August 1934. Into the frame Roland Cross installed his 500cc Cross Rotary Valve engine built on top of a Rudge Ulster crankcase with the transmission via a 4 speed Burman foot change gearbox. HRD designated the model as a Model P because the production machines used a Rudge Python engine prior to Vincent producing their own engines. Performance of this machine was quite outstanding for the day with a maximum speed of almost 100 mph and this being achieved using low octane fuel.
