Description: A fascinating view just as the area to the left is about to undergo significant change. The wholesale vegetable market has been demolished and soon the building to the left in Orange Grove will go, to make way for the mighty Empire Hotel. Note the extension to the end building on the bridge, to be demolished to enable buses to turn the corner onto Grand Parade.
Photographed in May 1898.
