Description: Unveiling of the Alexander Column in Dvortskaya Place in front of the Winter Palace on 30th August 1834. The date was chosen to coincide with St. Alexander of Constantinople's Day and was dedicated to Russia's victory over Napoleon under Tsar Alexander I. The column was designed by Auguste de Montferrand and Antonio Adamini. It was sculpted by Boris Orlovsky and the Angel on the top was modelled on Alexander I.
