Description: This purple silk chiffon dress is lined with cream silk and is lavishly embroidered with silver thread, bugle beads and diamanté. The dress fabric was most likely embroidered in India and then sent to Paris to be made up into this evening gown. Worn by Queen Alexandra (1844-1924), wife of King Edward VII.
Georges Doeuillet (1865-1934) was a Parish couturier who opened his maison in 1900, becoming one of the most influential in France.
