Description:

Looking northwest towards the Kelston Road in Lower Weston. Now the oldest standing bridge in Bath, the original bridge was built to take the turnpike road by the River Avon Navigation Company in about 1734 with 3 arches by John Strahan. Rebuilt with single arch later in the 18th century and widened in 1831-1834. The hump was also lowered to allow for trams to pass across safely - note the catenary wires for the electric trams to Newton St Loe, the route opening in 1905.

From a collection of photos with unidentified photographers.
